Community Class Registration Goes Digital Courtesy of SADA Systems

SADA Systems Inc. officially solidified it’s position as a leading provider of solutions to educational institutions with the development and release of a student registration system for Los Angeles Valley College. The registration system is geared toward students of Los Angeles Valley College’s Community Education and Extension program, a non-credit program of classes offered for community members. Classes offered by the Community Education and Extension Program include everything from professional development courses in real estate, to gymnastics, to t’ai chi.

Before the release of the web-based application developed by SADA Systems, registrations were processed through a combination of incompatible databases, spreadsheets, and handwritten forms. As a result information was being double or triple entered, and some information was only available on hard-copy forms. The new system is designed to process up to twenty-five thousand (25,000) registrations annually, and scale to handle more as needed. This will save Los Angeles Valley College more than $20,000.00 annually in paper, postage, and administrative costs.

As prospective registrants to Community Education and Extension classes become increasingly computer and internet savvy the number of paper-based registrations have declined. Computer savvy registrants simply don’t want to take the time to fill out a paper form or go register in person. With the implementation of the web-based system Los Angeles Valley Community Collage and SADA estimate an increase of 10% in new registrations.

Speaking on the development of the registration system Associate Dean of the Extension and Outreach program Annie Reed says, “SADA Systems was masterful in its design of our new online registration. We’ve only had the system up and running for approximately one month and already we have attracted more than 200 students of which 50% are new to our program! Our online registration system has given us the opportunity to reach entire new groups of online education seekers - we are thrilled with the results.”
